Gamelan learning content in the form of a gamelan workshop, where students get an explanation of the background and history of the gamelan along with the demonstration of the various musical instruments available in a studio. A gamelan instrument is often percussive with keyed xylophones or pot gongs made of a variety of materials, gongs of various sizes, double-headed drums and cymbals. There are number of different workshop programmes for students who want to know about classical gamelan or dance in more depth. All workshops include historical and technical explanations by researchers and experts. Workshops feature slide-show presentations and educational materials, with instructors being professional musicians and dancers.
Legong Semarandana Dance Workshop
Balinese dance is a very ancient dance tradition that is part of the religious and artistic expression among the Balinese people of Bali island, Indonesia. Balinese dance is dynamic, angular and intensely expressive. Balinese dancers express the stories of dance-drama through the bodily gestures including gestures of fingers, hands, head and eyes. Students will learn the dance content in the form of a dance workshop, where they will get an explanation of Balinese dance in general along with a dance demonstration and dance training.
Ubud Art Tour
Ubud is well-known for the center of the artistic scene in Bali. On this tour, students will be taken to see the stone carvings at Batubulan, before continuing on to Celuk for the silver & works with its wide selection of intricate designed pieces. We then proceed to the Kemenuh village renewed as the home skilled wood carvers particularly fine specimens of the woodcarvings. Our last visit is to the Balinese paintings at the respected fine arts galleries in Ubud .
WS Art Studio is a known craft workshop in Bali which offers a wide range of artistic workshops. Workshops available include mask, stone ,wood carving, silver jewellery and batik. The studio offers a handful of different classes for students to choose from – silver smithing, puppet making, stone carving, traditional painting, bamboo weaving and more. Classes are held in an open-air space nestled amongst rice fields, promising you the complete Balinese art experience.
