Petrosains Science Discovery Centre

Petrosains is a gateway to inspire learning in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).The sequence of the exhibits in Petrosains trace the evolution and scientific relevance of the energy industry while also focusing on general sciences and its application to everyday life. The interactive exhibits combined with hands-on activities and live science shows offer student’s a more engaging and immersive learning experience.

Tech Dome Penang

Tech Dome Penang houses over 120 interactive scientific and technology exhibits. Such exhibit interactive galleries include Information Technology, Life Tech, Optics, Electromagnetism, Astronomy Observatory and Forces and Motion and provide students with an immersive and experiential presentation on the marvels of science and technology.

Programs Available

Earth & Beyond (Introduction to Astronomy)

Over thousands of years, man has observed the sky and marveled at the mysteries of what they see. This course introduces the wonders of Astronomy, the oldest of sciences. In this course, students will learn about the objects in the sky like the sun, stars, planets and galaxies and how to observe them. We will show you the tools of Astronomy and how to use them. At the completion of this course, students shall know the basics of Astronomy including some practical experience and know how to start them off to explore our wonderful universe.

Course Content

Physical World (Introduction to Arduino Board)

Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-touse hardware and software. Arduino boards are able to read inputs – light on a sensor, a finger on a button, or a twitter message – and turn it into an output – activating a motor, turning on an LED, publishing something online. This module introduces the participants to the basics of Arduino. Arduino is used by a world-wide community of enthusiasts has been the brain of thousands of projects, from everyday objects to complex scientific instruments.

Penang Science Centre

The centre aims of inspiring innovation which focuses on developing young minds and exposing them to science and engineering through a unique, stimulating and innovative experience. Students can enjoy various workshop programs ranging from Robotics , Embedded System, Coding, 3D Modeling & Printing, Maths to Science.

Royal Selangor Pewter Factory

Royal Selangor is the world’s largest pewter company, renowned for its innovative design and craftsmanship to create objects of desire in precious pewter. At the visitor centre, students will be given the chance to manipulate this malleable and versatile metal. Join the fun and interactive School of Hard Knocks to get well acquainted with pewter. Students will be guided through the process of creating a pewter dish using traditional tools such as the hammer and wooden mould.

Spritzer Water Factory and Eco – Park

As Malaysia’s bestselling natural mineral water, Students will have a guided plant visit to the bottled water manufacturer and learn about the factory processing capability and the five sources where the mineral water is tapped from.

Paddy Rice Processing Factory Tour

It is one of the major rice producing area’s in Malaysia. With a huge paddy fields and an acreage of 4,300 acres, students will learn the complete life cycle of rice planting. The factory tour starts off with a video presentation that shows the rice processing steps from seeds to fertilization and harvesting. Following this is a viewing of the rice processing factory.

Yakult Factory Tour

Yakult the world’s famous probiotic. Students will embark to Yakult’s sole factory in Malaysia which currently churns out 280,000 bottles per day. Students can view the whole production process and having the chance to learn about the power of good bacteria and how the latest technologies is used to make Yakult and also sample some delicious freshly made Yakult.

Gardenia Bread Factory Tour

Gardenia bread factory tour, the largest and fastest bakery line in South East Asia. Gardenia’s bakery tour is a specially structured programme for students that serves to educate about the unique method of bread-making where specially selected wheat comes from and how modern technologies are used with traditional baking methods.
